Job Description
Summary:
Under direct supervision from the Writing Center Coordinator, the incumbent will provide advice and resources at every stage of the writing process:
Assist students formatting papers, properly citing their papers in MLA, APA, Chicago, or any other citation the instructor requires; assist students to brainstorm ideas to enable them to begin assignments; discuss how to formulate clear thesis statements; clarify lesson instructions; teach while proofreading; clarify what plagiarism is and make sure students know how to cite in-text; learn what the professors require, so students can comply with each particular criteria for a well-composed paper; work closely with ADA students to enable their success; be familiar with and have extensive experience in helping with the research process as it applies to college writing.
Responsibilities:
- Meeting with students individually and in small groups to help students with their writing process.
- Using guiding questions to assist students to think critically, further helping students understand how to improve their writing.
- Guiding students through the writing process:
prewriting (including brainstorming & outlining), drafting, revising, proofreading & editing.
- Researching and developing writing and reading aids.
- Participating and leading workshops on elements of writing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and
Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Friendly and approachable, patient with good listening skills, and a sense of responsibility.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Preferred major:
English or other Liberal Arts Degree.
- Past mentoring or tutoring experience.
- Use of multiple writing and citation styles (MLA, Chicago, APA, etc.
,).
- Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Google Docs.
Other Requirements:
Positions are part time (19 hours/week or less), non-exempt, and non-budgeted.
These positions will provide services only during Fall and Spring Semesters.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
