Responsibilities Medical Staff Coordinator I is responsible for assisting in complying with regulatory and accrediting agencies, interpreting standards and implementing changes.
Serves as the liaison between MSS and the hospital's medical staff on matters such as medical staff credentialing, which includes, but is not limited to, verification of education and training, certification and clinical practice submitted by physicians and allied health professionals.
Is a resource to the medical staff in understanding and applying the standards that the medical staff must meet.
Assists in developing the forms used for credentialing physicians and allied health professionals both for initial appointment and re-appointment that expedite the workload of the medical staff leadership.
Evaluate and process applications for initial appointment and reappointment to the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professional staff.
Maintain current credentials files, including changes in status for the Medical Staff and Allied Health Professionals.
Responsible for professional liability write-ups for initial applicants and reappointments to the medical staff and allied health professionals.
Maintains physician and allied health professional reappointment data on Med Staff Line software system.
Comply with regulatory body standards as related to credentialing and privileging.
Comply with the Medical Staff Bylaws and institutional policy as it pertains to initial applications and reappointments.
Supports designated medical staff personnel, such as Medical Executive Committee members and Service Chiefs.
Tracks monitoring/proctoring documentation necessary for the granting of special or new privileges to physicians.
Facilitate medical staff meetings.
Records and tracks medical staff meeting attendance, as required by medical staff bylaws for maintaining staff status.
Attends and records proceedings at designated Committee meetings.
Tracks monitoring/proctoring documentation necessary for the granting of special or new privileges to physicians.
Updates, on a daily basis, the physician/AHP database for the credentials database, and keeps the current Medical Staff Services department credentialing computer system.
Qualifications Education and Experience Required:
Associate Degree or equivalent experience Minimum of One (1) years of experience in medical staff services, hospital administrative department or credentialing verification organization.
Comparable healthcare or managed care work experience may be considered.
